Introduction of STMC Dear Sirs, My name is Taka Komatsu, writing from Tokio, Japan. I found your website linked to the FAME (Federation of Australian Mandolin Ensemble) home page. I left Australia in May 2000. Until that time, I played mandolin in Sydney Mandolin Orchestra ("SMO") that is a member of FAME. Back in Japan, I belong to Shin Tokorozawa Mandolin Club ("STMC") that is an amateur mandolin orchestra operating as a community group of Tokorozawa City, Saitama, Japan. It will be great if you are interested in attaching our website to your "link". Hello. My name is Annamaria Menconi. I am a member of and publicist for the Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra of Bloomfield, New Jersey. Last year, I started a new evening mandolin program at the Adult School of Montclair, New Jersey, taught by mandolin virtuoso Barry Mitterhoff. This past fall semester, over twenty students enrolled! I am happy to announce that this program will continue this winter, starting on Monday, March 6, 2000. Two courses will be offered consecutibely. The first, for beginners, will start at 7:00 P.M. The second, for intermediate students, will immediately follow at 8:00 P.M. Both classes will run for ten weeks (one class each Monday evening). Tuition for each class is only $70.00 plus the cost of purchasing a copy of the Bickford Mandolin Method Book I. For registration information, please contact Lisa Redburn at (973) 746-6636. Also, the Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra is looking for new members, especially mandola and mandocello players, and needs more guest artists. This past October, we were extremely fortunate to have Duo Capriccioso (Getrud Troster, mandolin and Michael Troster, guitar) as our guest artists at the Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center. It was a tremendous success! Our next concert will be May 7, 2000 at 3:00 P.M. at the Bloomfield Middle School, on Huck Road in Bloomfield, NJ. The guest artists for this concert will be Enrico Granafei, guitar, and Kristine Massari, vocalist. Also, on May 21, 2000 at 3:00 P.M. our orchestra will perform a program entitled "Musica Mandolinistica," at Westchester Community College, 75 Grosslands Road, Vahalla, New York. For more information, please contact Professor Scalafani at (914) 736-2042. The Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra is constantly searching for good arrangements for mandolin orchestra, especially classical music, which are not too difficult to play nor too expensive. Also, we would like to increase the number of formal concerts that we perform per year and participate in some concert series or mandolin based tours. I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
