Hello LMO, Way back when I corresponded with Mike Schroeder about my dad's matchstick mandolins. Just wondered if you might be interested to know I will be exhibiting in the U.S. next year. This coincides with the centenary of my dad's birth in 1906 and it will be the 70th anniversary since he made the Neapolitan matchstick mandolin.
Some other information is that the mandolins are in the book of Guinness World Records, 2003 edition. They form part of a unique collection my father imagined and created eight decades ago. Abbreviated text says: "10 playable musical instruments made entirely from used wooden matchsticks.
I have some new jpeg digial photos of the mandolins that I will gladly send along, and there are some stories on the web of how/why my dad hit on the idea of of making mandolins from matchsticks. Just let me know an email address and I will send the info by return.
With my best wishes to everyone at The Louisville Mandolin Orchestra,
Tony Hall, Keeper & Historian
The Jack Hall Matchstick Instrument Collection.

I'm impressed with your approach to this genre. I have been playing mandolin for 35 yrs. in folk and bluegrass fields. I'm presently learning some of the oldies of 30's & 40's. This would be a thrill and ambition if distance doesn't become a problem. I had a custom built mandolin made in 1996 that is worth approx. $7,000.00.
