No sweeter sound than mandolins The song, the soul within; Melodies of birds and wind Float freely from the strings. The player soars, his mind set free, The earth the sur-reality.

Beginner on the mandolin. I own an Alverez, model A-500, Florentine style mandolin that has a beautiful and most pleasing sound to it. It is a 26 fret instrument capable of f#''''. I am presently trying to locate a source of purchase for either an "octive mandola" or a "liuto cantabile/liuto moderno". The latter, a five-course instrument, tuned to C-G-d-a-e'. Can you help????? Thank You, Tom Neukirch

Do you have a schedule of performances in the Louisville area? I have an old mandolin which I do not play, but would like to hear some mandolin music.

Need some help. Recently visited a "Music Museum" in a small town in Michigan and they inherited a mandola. They have no info about it, what can you send me, or where can you direct me? Thanks

Hi, I'm the former Concert Master of The Mandolin Club of Newark (NJ) and also of the New York Mandolin Orchestra. Both of these groups are now defunct. I know that everyone just got old and droped out one by one. I inherited the whole library cabinet of orchestrations and notes. We were active members of FIGA in the old days. I started in 1939 in Newark at the age of 13 with the violin and eventually switched to the Mandolin. Our best Conductor was a professor at the New York College of Music on 85th St. He arranged many of our orchestrations. I wish you all success and best wishes. Don't stop. The music is unique. Sincerely, Tom Cousins

Hello, this is just a first to try and use the Net in order to make contacts within the mandolin world. I am a composer and conductor of the WA Mandolin orchestra estabished 1976. I would be interested to share my music scores with other orchestras around the world. If I can be included in any of your outgoing correspondance, I would much appreciate this. I am also a member of the CMSA and do receive the newsletter. For now, all the best to everyone in the LMO.
